Khao Sok - Private Tours

More of our custom made tours designed for independently minded travellers who want to side step
the big bus tours but don't want the hassle of organizing everything themselves. We take care of the
details while you enjoy the sights and the nature at your own pace.

We believe that freedom during your valuable holiday time is the most important thing so there is no
fixed itinerary, we design it around what you want. These are the general guidelines and our
recommendations:

Day Tour to Khao Sok National Park

ilTubing at Sok River with Private Khao Sok Tours by Easy Day Thailand
Tubing at Sok River
Your driver and your English speaking guide will collect you at your hotel around 7:30am and start to drive north. After 1-1.5 hours, depending on your hotel location, we stop for a coffee break in a local place at Khok Kloy town, a few km after crossing Sarasin Bridge which connects Phuket to the mainland. Around 10:30-11:00 we reach Khao Sok and start an amazing canoeing OR "river tubing" experience on the river (your choice between the two), completely surrounded by the wilderness of the oldest rain forest on Earth. If you choose the canoe, pleasant and professional local paddlers are provided, but you can also paddle by yourself if you prefer.

For those who are not familiar with it, the river tubing is a mix of relaxation and fun as we go with the water flow sitting in the big doughnuts. Some sections of the Sok River are slow and quiet, while others have little rapids to make the descent more exciting. This is an amazing experience that makes you really feel as if you are part of the jungle itself and the stunning limestone cliffs nearby. If you are looking for a more action-packed tubing experience you can check the Kapong Tubing Safari Day Tour.

After about 1 hour descending downstream will stop on the riverside at "Tham Pla", a cave where you can spot a lot of local fish (Tham Pla literally means "fish cave" in Thai). Back on the canoe/tubing and further downstream will then stop for a special lunch at a little local restaurant by the river

Around 14:00 we arrive at the “pier” where the driver is waiting for us ready to start the way back
to Phuket; depending on time, weather and traffic, we have the opportunity for one more stop and
additional sightseeing or activity such as visiting  the Tsunami Memorial “Police Boat 813 ”, Turtle
Conservation Centre, short Elephant Trekking and more that you can decide with your guide.
We arrive back at the hotel around 18:30

*timing is approximate and might vary depending on hotel's location, logistics, weather etc.

Price:
1 to 4 person: THB 11,400 (in total)
Extra person: THB   2,900 / person

Children: 5-11 years THB 900 per child, kids below 5 years of age are free of charge.

Included: All transfers, knowledgeable and friendly English speaking guide, Lunch, soft drinks, local beers (two cans per adult), canoe OR tubing with related equipment, tax and insurance, National Park fees.

Note: Elephant Trekking available on request - Surcharge 1,000 THB per person

2D/1N - Khao Sok Overnight Tour

Look over Khao Sok from Cliff & River Jungle Resort
View at Cliff & River Jungle Resort

Two great days in nature, a good balance between adventure and relaxation.

DAY 1

Same itinerary as DAY TOUR, but after canoe/tubing we check in at Cliff & River Jungle Resort in
Standard Room (double/twin sharing) enjoy the place with SPA, pool and natural surroundings, relax in the wonderful atmosphere, dinner.

DAY 2

We recommend an early wake up to witness the mist that at night time came up from the humid
trees and hangs over the hills, the insects chirp, the birds are not angry and the wild gibbons call
through the jungle. Then mists slowly clear revealing the 300m vertical cliff that towers over the
resort.

Around 8:30am we enjoy the nice Thai-American breakfast and then we get moving for a very
nice scenic Jungle Trek that lasts approximately 3 hours (5-6 km). During the walk we see
several kinds of local flora and fauna, and sometimes there's also the chance to spot wild monkeys
and boars. At the end of the walk we reach a nice spot on the river where the water is clean and can
have a refreshing dip.

As an alternative to the Jungle Trek, for those who are not keen on walking or have different interests,
there is the opportunity to do Elephant Trekking instead. It takes place in a nice jungle area near
Khao Lak and lasts approximately one hour, here we also find a small  scenic waterfall.
After the activities we enjoy a tasty lunch and start to head back towards Phuket Island, on the way
we can do some additional stops for sightseeing like Tsunami Memorial “Police Boat 813 ”, Turtle
Conservation Centre, and more that you can decide with your guide. Just few minutes before
crossing Sarasin Bridge and enter Phuket Island we stop for a coffee break at 360° Andaman View
Point from where you have a stunning view over the Phuket and the Andaman Sea.
We arrive back to the hotel around 18:00.

Price:
1 to 4 person: THB 25,500 (in total)
Extra person: THB   5,900 / person

Note: Elephant Trekking available on request - Surcharge 1,000 THB per person

Included: All transfers, knowledgeable and friendly English speaking guide, Lunch (Day 1), soft drinks, local beers (two cans per adult), canoe OR tubing with related equipment, Dinner (Day 1), one night
accommodation in Standard Room (Double/Twin sharing) at Cliff & River Jungle Resort, Breakfast
(Day 2), Lunch (Day 2), tax and insurance, National Park fees.

Tubing with Easy Day Thailand

Tubing in Khao Sok National Park

Tubing is a recreational activity where people ride sitting on top of an inner tube, either on water, snow, or through the air. The tubes themselves are also known as "doughnuts" or "biscuits" because of their shape.

River tubing is an outdoor activity in which people ride inner tubes or inflated disks down a river. Depending on the conditions at the river, tubing can be a relaxing way to spend an afternoon, or it can be a fun-filled adventure. On a gentle river, this sport is suitable for people of a wide range of ages and physical abilities, and it can be a great vacation activity for people travelling with children.

In a typical tubing trip, people wear swimsuits or other gear that can be comfortably worn in the water, and some people also wear life jackets for additional safety. The tubes are launched in the water, and then people mount up and start floating. Once launched, the tubes will freely float down the river pushed by the stream, with the tubers eventually choosing a spot to land.

Easy Day Thailand offers day trips and Overnight trips to Khao Sok & Kapong in Phang Nga Province for great Tubing fun.

Easy Day Thailand Staff Party at Khao Sok – Part 4

Easy Day Staff Party 2012: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4

Once the necessary pictures had been taken we gathered for the quick transfer up river in the van and cars, only about 10 minutes, where everyone boarded canoes for a guided tour down the river. The river skirted along the cliff walls and past the resort and everyone had a relaxing time.

Canoeing at Khao Sok
Canoeing at Khao Sok
Upon our arrival down river, a hardy lunch was served and after the ride down river, everyone was hungry. Not to rush things, everyone relaxed for a couple of minutes to let our food settle before moving on to our next river voyage with Tubing. This time we decided to actually enjoy the river water and use large inner tubes to float down the river. One problem was getting in a starting the journey, the other was how cold the water was, by the time we were getting out everyone was looking to warm up.

Tubing at Khao Sok, Phang Nga
Tubing in Khao Sok, Phang Nga

All in all, it was a good day on the river and everyone agreed it was great fun and a different kind of adventure then they are use to. After a brief discussion, Diego decided since we got out of the river right at “The Cliff & River Jungle Resort” Restaurant, we might as well relax a bit and have dinner there before getting on the road to head home to Phuket. Dinner was very good and we all got to choose what looked good on the menu. Everyone’s hunger satisfied and warm again, we load into the various vehicles we came in for the long ride back, I was glad to be in the minivan and not driving. Everyone arrived home safe and sound after what was a great two day adventure to one of Thailand’s beautiful Nature Parks.

Phuket weather update to 15 April 2015

Time for a weather update as finally some rain arrived making air less hot and more pleasant sleeping at night.

Weather was very hot with temperatures during the close to 40 Celsius. Sometime strong wind was carrying fresh air.
Kamala Beach - Phuket Island
Kamala Beach in April 2015

Than around 10th April first few drops of rain, just ten to twenty minutes thunderstorms that left more humidity and hot behind.

We all were looking forward for Songkarn Day and really was on 12 first real storm with rain that lasted enough to cool down the weather

On 13th April again a thunderstorm during late afternoon to help splashing water for Songkran and to refill the water reserves. An again today a nice cool rain just after lunch time

Phuket weather update October 2014 from 11th til 31st

Fast and easy we got to end of October, our last update for Phuket weather was three weeks ago.
Karon Beach - Phuket
Karon Beach on 13 October 2014

Why so long without any news about Phuket Weather? Simply because weather has been very good.
Cape Panwa - Phuket
Panoramic View from Cape Panwa in October 2014

Normal pattern for this time of the year, no wind and flat sea, during almost of the day blue sky and sunshine. Can expect anyway local storms and rain falls that last between one and two hours.

During these storms rain can be very heavy causing flash floods that affect only the area where rain is concentrated . So just stop and wait for a moment until rain slow down. There is no strong wind associated with these storms however when at sea visibility can be poor and some waves is possible but less than one meter.
Storm over Kathu -Phuket
Storm over Kathu on 13 October 2014

This is the weather situation that will bring us into the so called high season.

What is high season in Phuket : its is the period between mid October and mid May, when wind change direction blowing from north east. Bringing fresh and dry air from inland.
Patong Beach - Phuket
Patong Beach ready for high season

Now we are in the transition, the heavy rains of Summer Monsoon are over, sky is clear most of the day. However air is hot and humidity is high so dense clouds form offshore and once they are loaded or water release it to the ground or sea with this quick and strong storms

A good news is that is now time to enjoy the Sea and it is safe to swim in area and beach, rip currents are gone and sea is flat
Sea canoe at James Bond island
Sea Canoe at Koh Hong 12 October 2014

Today was an alarming news about waterspout, they are normal during October and November  and they last only few minutes, during storms there si the opportunity to take very good pictures.

Waterspout off Patong Beach

In conclusion is time to fully enjoy holidays and all activities that Phuket and surrounding areas offer.

There isn't any better time as now can enjoy the sea, the forest and the beaches

Specially good time for rafting and tubing with rivers at correct level of water

Phuket Weather 5 June 2013

Today weather in Phuket has been stable. Mostly covered sky with occasional sun rays making their way through the clouds. It was a good day to move around because it hasn't rained at all for the whole day and temperature wasn't too hot.

Kapong River Tubing with Easy Day Thailand Tours

The sea, as usual this time in June, is quite rough because of the strong wind from south west. This hasn't spoiled the day trips by boat anyway, a bit bumpy but still enjoyable.

With the higher but reasonable amount of rain during this period is nice to take part of activities like river tubing at Kapong since there is more water in the rivers making it more fun.

Review - Melissa Lee - private tours and cooking class

Hi Francesco and team.

Thank you so much for all the awesome tours
That you assisted us with.

I have finally found a tour company that is reliable and doesn't treat their customers as random numbers.  We were probably not the easiest customers as we had loads going on in the background as we explained to you but
Your fantastic organisational skills and friendliness made a massive contribution to an outstanding albeit short holiday.

The private long boat tour with Bee was incredible. She is a wonderful lady whom I hope to meet again. Lunar from the tubing tour was like a ray of sunshine and we loved being in her company.  The tubing was great and we lived the fact that it wasn't over run with people. Thanks for that excellent advice.

The highlights for me, however, was the private cooking class with Bee and Anne. It was so personal, Anne was so warm and welcoming, being in her home was a privilege and one I would have hated to miss. It was informative yet casual and I felt I was cooking with friends.

Your advice regarding that incredible restaurant, jok ......was spot on.
What a place. We didn't want to leave. Thanks for going out your way to make and then reschedule our reservation.

Dee also went our her way to book us our unscheduled trip to watch Thai boxing, even instructing the driver to take us to collect the tickets.

I will, without any hesitation, tell any other people that are planning on travelling to Thailand, not to waste their time with any other tour operator  and we will definitely be utilising your amazing companies services on our trip next year.

Kind regards

Melissa-Lee

Reviews - Catherine K.N.

Catherine and Family enjoyed several tours and transfer services with us. The review below was posted on TripAdvisor earlier this month.

"After reading all the great reviews, I booked all our tours through Francesco. The private tour of Phang Nga was fabulous and Tee was great about being flexible for a large group. It was a relief to be able to arrange all the transports between hotels, and even dental appointments and I can always guarantee to be picked up in a comfortable van. Their drivers were always on time and made me feel safe (I've been in other rides where the drivers drove wildly and rides were very bumpy). The only tour I didn't arrange through Easy Day was the Phi Phi island tour which I arranged at the last minute out of our hotel in Krabi. First, we we picked up in a tuk-tuk, then 10 minutes into the speedboat ride, I understood why Francesco recommended the luxury cruiser option. The speedboat ride out was so bumpy that an elderly woman hurt her back and was in deep pain through the whole trip. All the women were feeling quite sick after the 45 minute ride out which seemed to take a lot longer. Next time, I'll take Francesco's advice and pay the extra for the luxury cruiser. Also, talking to other tourists, it seems that nobody else had been told about the Kapong River tubing which we quite enjoyed. Thanks for helping to make our vacation not only more luxurious, but so much easier."

...and few days later we received this email:

"Thank you, when we return to Thailand, I'll definitely be contacting you guys again.

I'll be recommending you to all my friends in Norway.  What distinguishes a good service organization from the bad is not that they necessarily have everything go perfectly, but it's how you handle the situation.  I'm very satisfied with all the services we've received from you and you are a top notch service provider.

Thank you again"

Phuket Weather update from 23rd May till 5th June 2015

Finally it did rain, i know for those on holidays isn't a great news but believe me is a relieve from the heat and water reserves were very low.

It is important to know that during Summer in Phuket it doesn't rain all day for few days and everywhere.

There are thunderstorms that locally can pour a lot of rain in a short time. So can rain at an hotel location and be sunny and fine all day at Phi Phi islands or other locations. As can be the opposite. in case of severe weather activities or tours are suspended but need first to get to the meeting points to have the correct picture about the weather situation. And some time take the "risk' of getting wet during the day.

Same is for the time could rain at Pick up time and then be good during the day or could be nice in the morning and then turn bad during the day

For these reason one of the tours we like to suggest during summer is the Phi Phi Premium that combines the comfortable transfers in premium class, where customers are always comfortable despite sea conditions, with fun speed boat ride to best sightseeing at Phi Phi Island

Phuket weather in May 2014 from 1st to 14th

It is time again for South west Monsoon, but first of all see what happen during last part of April.

April was surely hot and dry only few thunderstorms and some rain but really not enough to relief from hot temperature and drought. Specialist s said was the driest season in Phuket since 30 years.

Consider that since end of November didn't rain at all. We have enjoyed cool and dry air up to end of March. But as been more windy then normal during the North East Monsoon season.

So we leave behind the flat sea on Phuket West Coast, as the picture below of Laem Singh Beach

Phuket beaches - Laem Singh Beach
Laem Singh Beach in Phuket

And we came into May with more rainfalls and thunderstorms. During first week they were locally  without wind and the sea was flat during. At least the rain during the night helped to cool the temperature but humidity increased.

Once humidity increases we feel that air is hooter and this was the situation during first week of May, no wind, very hot, best stay out at sea and enjoy the evening breeze on boat.

On the 10th of May the situation changed with first storm coming from west bringing heavy rain and strong wind during the storm. This means that the South West monsoon as kicked in and for few days we will have sunshine alternate to rain and wind. The Sea on West coast will be choppy all day long.
Weather in Phuket - Kathu hiils
Rain storm cover Kathu Hills - view from our new offices
Can compare with last year situation and have a better idea about weather in Phuket during May so will make easier to plan your holidays.

Time again for Rafting, tubing, enjoy waterfalls and rivers that slowly start to fill in.

May is also a month with a lot of Public holidays, the labor day on 1st of May. Then we had Thailand Coronation day on 5th May. soon followed by the Royal Ploughing Ceremony day on the 9th and close with one of most important religious holidays the Visaka Bucha Day on the 13th of May.

The Visaka Bucha Day falls on 6th Lunar month full Moon and Buddhist celebrate three important milestones in the life of Lord Buddha; birth, enlightenment and death.
