Phuket weather 29 May 2013

Forecast for today was rain and storms during almost all day...but then a good surprise and has been sunny for all day, just some clouds high in the sky.

Phromtep Cape in Phuket isn't good only for Sunsets but also for great Sunrise. Our Friend S Singto, was there this early morning.

The day keep going well and at Kata Noi Beach the few people enjoy playing with waves.

Kata Noi is perfect during summer because only few people go there. The beach is just south of Kata Beach or Kata Yai Beach.  Wide and long enough to enjoy a walk offers very clear water. To get there when in Kata, leave the Kata Beach Resort on your right and soon you will arrive to an intersection, take right, pass the narrow road and just after Tropical Garden Resort go straight. The two lanes road goes over the small hill and soon you will see the Katathani Beach Resort.

The resort basically takes all beach length, this saved the area from speculation and left the beach almost untouched for everyone pleasure. Go at the road end and between the dive center and the coffee shop there is the lane to access the beach. remember that in Thailand all beaches are public so there is always a way to access them.

Phuket weather 17 May 2013

Some Rain During the night and thunder showers in the day.
Big clouds at horizon will probably bring some light rain but still enough blue sky to enjoy tours and activities.

Strong waves hit Patong Beach early morning and a lot of stuff washed ashore. But the clean up operation was immediate with staff from the local administration and beach operators making sure everything was collected and beach ready for an enjoyable day.

Phuket Weather 20 May 2013

After a night raining this morning sun is shining again.

The reason is wind is blowing stronger so keeps the sky more clear from clouds.

Waves then get bigger specially when the tide is changing

A perfect day for golfing, fresh air in the morning and no rain.

The Phuket Country Club golf course is build near the waterworks and surrounded by trees and green hills, making it even more fresh in a day as today.

Phuket Weather 25 May 2013

Despite forecast this morning wide blue skies and no rain, perfect to enjoy the beach and if like play with surf, keeping in mind that is dangerous swim to far.

Karon Beach Phuket Island, Thailand

Wind wasn't strong but waves were big because of high tide during full moon. Tides in Thailand are very high, and they are important for activities such as diving, surfing, fishing or just swimming. During high tide waves can reach more then two meters in height reducing the beach. need to be careful where you put your stuff to avoid the bad surprise to have everything washed into the sea. Tides are affected by the Moon and easy to predict.

At midday just after lunch more clouds came from south West and soon was raining, so was good to enjoy the morning walk and sun.

Karon Beach is about five Km south of Patong, the area has a lot of international resort and offer accommodation to all levels. Not much as night life but great place for those love a relaxing holidays in comfortable resorts. The hotels are on beach front, just walk out the properties, cross over the road and you are on the beach. The beach is the longest in Phuket with a 4 km length, making it perfect for jogging and walk.

When Monsoon change from North East then winter is coming and West Coast seas are flat, just few thunderstorm in November and December then sunshine and cool air (still between 24 and 27 Celsius) from January to April. At same time the Gulf of Thailand is exposed to strong wind and as result sea is rough with big waves. Rain can be heavy from October to December to then slow down from January to April.

Phuket weather 2 June 2013

During night strong wind blew and rain started.
Still at mid day is raining and probably will be like this all day.

Normal for this time the year anyway swim in the sea even i a sunny day isn't possible from may til end of October because of strong rip current.

A lot to alternative things to do in Phuket while here in the summer to enjoy the hotels low rates.

Important is to pick up hotels in places that offers all services and facilities so is perfect time for Patong with shopping center, thousands of restaurants and wide choice of hotels.

While Kamala beach that is perfect location during winter because of great beach with real beach life, hundreds of restaurants just on beach e front. Strategic position between Patong and Surin so easy access to best beaches such as Laem Singh and Surin and not to far from Layan Beach.

However as said during summer staying in Kamala you will feel isolated, still many restaurant open, very easy to get to Fanatsea show that is located there. But will need to enjoy the hotel pool for a swim as big waves smash the beach all day and all traditional beach business that make the place unique are closed.

How to get to Kamala beach? Easy from airport can turn right at Thalang traffic light get to Chern Talay and follow the road along the ocean and enjoy the beautiful view, soon down the hill after Surin baech will see Kamala bay.

From Patong take the beach road that is one way north, at the circle stay on the right and follow the road with sea on your left, pass Kalim the Nakalay, go over the steep hill and when the road start to slope down will see Kamala Bay.

Phuket weather 9 and 10 June 2013

This time made one report for two days, the reason is simply...it is really raining now. During last 48 hours a lot of rain and as consequence Patong roads were flooded, the small streams around the island suddenly got big and strong.
Wind is also strong and waves can be up to three meters, forecasts say that will stay as this for next four to five days.

What do not do in Phuket when is raining !

Don't ride motorbikes, save your money and don't rent bikes, drive a bike in Phuket isn't easy in normal conditions, when is time for heavy rain and wind it is very dangerous. So don't look for trouble and go around comfortably in a taxi.

Don't walk bare feet when roads are flooded, you will save your flip flops but won't see where you are walking with the risk to step on sharp objects, cut your feet and may get an infection.

Don't enter rooms and buildings where air con is running if you are completely wet to avoid to get sick and spend rest of the holidays in bed. Shirt and T-shirt are cheap and available every where, buy one to keep your self dry. At any 7/11 and Family Mart can buy rain ponchos for few Bahts and keep yourself dry.

Don't keep your electronics in the pockets without waterproof protection, rain can be very strong and "flood' your pockets and bag too. Best solution is a dry bag, small made in rubber and silicon they keep dry all your staff...just don't put water in :-).

Don't play with waves, one more time we like to remind everyone that swim in the sea and play with waves on Phuket West coats during summer is dangerous because of strong rip current.

Phuket Weather 21 June 2013

Today is Summer Solstice and we couldn't ask for a better day, wind still blowing but much
less then during past few days, waves less strong and lower and Sun was shining all day.

So week end should be good with less wind, may be some rain will then fall as clouds will able to form again in the sky.

Take it easy and enjoy anything like to do, from tours to activities, after few days rain rivers are now perfect to enjoy a day for tubing or Rafting.
