Forecast for today was rain and storms during almost all day...but then a good surprise and has been sunny for all day, just some clouds high in the sky.

Phromtep Cape in Phuket isn't good only for Sunsets but also for great Sunrise. Our Friend S Singto, was there this early morning.

The day keep going well and at Kata Noi Beach the few people enjoy playing with waves.

Kata Noi is perfect during summer because only few people go there. The beach is just south of Kata Beach or Kata Yai Beach.  Wide and long enough to enjoy a walk offers very clear water. To get there when in Kata, leave the Kata Beach Resort on your right and soon you will arrive to an intersection, take right, pass the narrow road and just after Tropical Garden Resort go straight. The two lanes road goes over the small hill and soon you will see the Katathani Beach Resort. 

The resort basically takes all beach length, this saved the area from speculation and left the beach almost untouched for everyone pleasure. Go at the road end and between the dive center and the coffee shop there is the lane to access the beach. remember that in Thailand all beaches are public so there is always a way to access them.

Phuket weather 28 May 2013

Another sunny day with a great blue sky and no clouds at horizon, the pictures have been taken in Kathu looking at South West. Will be another great plenty of things to do in Phuket.

However In the afternoon large dark clouds arrived and soon was a storm and rain that last after two and half hours

This morning decided to go work with the bicycle to keep myself fit and also to enjoy the good weather. This is something to consider as alternative to beach and resort life. This is best way to discover a lot of different places and enjoy an easy day in Phuket.

Very nice and sunny morning. The air is so clear that from Chalong pier can see Racha Yia and Racha noi islands. they are are south of Phuket.

Boats were ready to take people to enjoy diving, snorkelling and relax.

Diving in Phuket is good all year round, with best visibility from April till October.

For snorkeling Racha Yai offer very good condition specially during summer, our bat M/V Sai Mai was ready at noon for an half day trip to Racha Yai

Chalong Pier is locate in Chalong Bay, South East side of the island. All diving boats, most of speed boats and yacht are moored here as the bay offer shelter all year round. To get there from Phuket town take the Chaofa West road and drive down until pass Chalong Police station and at the circle take the road on the left.

From Patong or any other location north, go south to Karon then follow from there.

From Karon and Kata take the Patak road direction east, follow the sign to Chalong Bay, the road goes up the hill and soon you will see the bay. At the circle need to take the road in front of you.

Form Rawai and Nai Harn, take the Chaofa West road direction North at the circle take the road on your right.

The jetty is about 2km long and easily minivans can drop off and pick up customers.

The weather as been good then for all day with wind blowing stronger drying the air and clouds formation.

Today went up to Phuket Big Buddha, from there can see all Phuket island and have a clear picture about the weather. Early morning was raining the sun shine until mid afternoon when bigger clouds arrive from the open sea bringing more rain.

Wind is mild and sea is flat. During Summer however we rec recommend trips on big boats and use of speed boats only for closer islands, such as Racha Yai. As weather changes during the day making uncomfortable stay for two hours on a small boat. When it is raining waves become bigger.

To get to Phuket Big Buddah need to go to Chalong the area south of Phuket. Take the Chaofa East Road and look for the sign. Coming from south the road to big Buddha is on the left.

Despite forecast this morning wide blue skies and no rain, perfect to enjoy the beach and if like play with surf, keeping in mind that is dangerous swim to far.

  

Wind wasn't strong but waves were big because of high tide during full moon. Tides in Thailand are very high, and they are important for activities such as diving, surfing, fishing or just swimming. During high tide waves can reach more then two meters in height reducing the beach. need to be careful where you put your stuff to avoid the bad surprise to have everything washed into the sea. Tides are affected by the Moon and easy to predict.

At midday just after lunch more clouds came from south West and soon was raining, so was good to enjoy the morning walk and sun.

Karon Beach is about five Km south of Patong, the area has a lot of international resort and offer accommodation to all levels. Not much as night life but great place for those love a relaxing holidays in comfortable resorts. The hotels are on beach front, just walk out the properties, cross over the road and you are on the beach. The beach is the longest in Phuket with a 4 km length, making it perfect for jogging and walk.

Phuket weather 24 May 2013 also Visaka Bucha Day

During the night we had heavy rain falls but in the morning just grey sky and people were on the streets for traditional Sai Bat (ใส่ บาตร), offer food to Monks. All day will be cover in clouds and rain will probably pour down late afternoon. Forecast say will be like this for all weekend.

Kathu Temple - Phuket

Today is public holiday in Thailand it is Visaka Bucha Day (วันวิสาขบูชา), that is celebrate on the full moon that marks the 6th Lunar month.

It is Buddhist observance commemorating the birth, enlightenment and passing of the Buddha. Also observed as National Tree Day. People also will do their offer to Monks at  temples, afternoon was time for them to put gs in order

Schools, Banks and government offices are closed. Alcohol sale are banned so also bars and other venues will stay closed.

If like to see local tradition and life then take an half day tour starting early morning and get around some of the temples.

Kathu Temple is one of oldest temple in Phuket and very close to most popular resorts areas.
